Glasnevin Trust Museum
The 1,983 square metres (21,345 sq. ft.) Museum hosts three main feature exhibits:
• The City of the Dead
An immersive exhibition in the basement of the Museum. It covers the burial practices and religious beliefs, as well as the meticulous record-keeping, of the 1.5 million people buried in Glasnevin.
• The Milestone Gallery
A succession of special exhibitions on key historical figures, starting with Glasnevin’s founder Daniel O’Connell. It also houses ‘the Timeline’ – a ten-metre long digitally interactive table containing details of the lives and connections of hundreds of the most interesting people buried there.
• The glazed Prospect Gallery
It offers a breathtaking panorama of the cemetery, along with information on its marvellous array of funerary monuments and historic graves.
Genealogist Searches on the www.glasnevintrust.ie/Genealogy page are made accessible in a research area.
• With Taste will operate The Tower Cafe and cater for all Private Event Hires at Glasnevin Museum. With Taste currently operate in prestigious locations such as National Gallery of Ireland, The RDS and The Mansion House. The 70 seat Tower Cafe will offer morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.
• Glasnevin Museum Archive Room also includes a specially designed and temperature controlled archive room where original burial records minute books and historical documents are preserved.
Glasnevin Trust Shop
• The Glasnevin Trust Shop will sell a range of product lines which will compliment the visitor experience. Postcards, Guidebooks, Historical and Heritage interest books and gift items.
• Inspiration for all product lines will be drawn from the Trusts archive of photographs and artefacts. Glasnevin Trust have also commissioned new drawings and photographs to maintain the high standard of resource materials available.
