Q. What Cemeteries can you supply a Headstone for?
A. We can erect a Headstone in any Cemetery.
Q. What do I have to do to purchase a Headstone?
A. We are unique in so far as we employ only fully qualified stonemasons and apprentice stonemasons trained to the highest level. By having outlets in each of our Cemeteries we cater for a wide range of memorials and are easily accessible to all parts of Dublin city - a sample of some of our memorials can be seen on our display page. Q. Who can carry out memorial works on headstone in the Glasnevin Trust Cemeteries?
A.To do any memorial work on a grave, the registered grave owner can commission any memorial sculptor who is registered with the Dublin Cemeteries Committee.
Monumental Sculptors must submit permits confirming dimensions, materials, inscriptions, grave number and signature of owner (Forms DCC 1, DCC2, and DCC 3)

Q. What rules and regulations are there for placing a monument on a grave?
A. The rules and regulations for each of our Cemeteries are available on request at the relevant office. It should be noted that placing of monuments and other monumental appendages in the Cemeteries are permitted subject to the express condition that they shall be kept continuously in good order, condition and repair.
No iron, metal or wooden monument, or kerbing (other than kerbing on graves which are not single graves), crosses or structures of any kind, can be erected in the Cemeteries. No kerbing of any sort is allowed on single graves in Glasnevin
The surface of graves in Palmerstown, Dardistown and Newlands Cross Cemeteries are grassed and, in order to keep them maintained, nothing is to be placed on the grave surface. Alternatively, you may call to any of our Offices detailed in the Contacts section.
All Cemeteries require that prior permission be sought before erecting a headstone. Fee for this permit varies, which, in some instances, may include a cost to lay the foundation for the headstone. We, on your behalf, will liaise with the Cemeteries Authorities to apply for the permit to erect a headstone. The owner of the grave, or next-of-kin, will be required to sign the Cemetery application form to erect the headstone.

Q. How soon after a burial may I erect a headstone?
A. In some of the Groups Cemeteries – Palmerstown, Dardistown and Newlands Cross – the foundations are pre-laid. So the headstone can be placed on the grave immediately, indeed some people have erected the headstone on their grave before they die, so only the inscription and date of death have to be added when the burial takes place. In Glasnevin and Goldenbridge, foundations have to be built when the application is submitted with a waiting time of approximately 4 weeks.
Q. How long does it take to erect a headstone?
A. Once the application to erect a headstone has been approved and the foundation built, and the permission has been granted by the Cemetery Authority, we can normally erect the headstone within a period of four weeks.
Q. Are the headstones in your brochure suitable for all Cemeteries?
A. The suitability of each headstone is dependent on the specific rules and regulations of each Cemetery. Our staff will advise you when you are choosing your headstone.
Q. Can I select a headstone not in your brochure that I have seen in a Cemetery?
A. Yes. Our skilled Stonemasons will visit the Cemetery where you have seen the Headstone. We will advise you on if it is possible to reproduce the headstone.

Q. Is kerbing allowed on graves?
A. Once again it depends on the rules and regulations of each Cemetery. Kerbing is not allowed in our lawn Cemeteries – Palmerstown, Dardistown and Newlands Cross. This also applies in our lawn Section – St.Mobhi’s -in Glasnevin. It should also be noted that - no iron, metal or wooden monument, or kerbing (other than kerbing on graves which are not single graves), crosses or structures of any kind, can be erected in, and no kerbing of any sort is allowed on, single graves in Glasnevin Cemetery.
Q. What type of inscription can I put on my headstone?
A. We have a wide variety of inscriptions to choose from; our staff can advise you on font type and colour.
Q. What about chippings on the grave?
A. If the Cemetery rules and regulations allow, we can place chippings on the grave including a concrete or PVC covering.
Q. Can you provide additional inscriptions after future burials?
A. Yes. We will send one of our qualified stonemasons to the Cemetery to inspect the headstone, and he will advise on the style and layout of the additional inscription.

Q. Can I put a photograph on the headstone?
A. Yes. We will require a good quality copy of the photograph. This will be used to prepare a ceramic photograph which will then be placed on your headstone.
Q. What about cleaning the headstone in the future?
A. All headstones are susceptible to the elements over time. Our experience staff will advise you on this.
Q. What other services do you provide?
A. We offer a complete renovation and repair service to ensure your headstone is restored to its original condition. Our stonemasons will inspect your headstone and will advise you on whether it requires cleaning and/or if the existing inscription requires repainting.
We also offer all types of memorabilia including – hearts, statues, solar lamps, bronze crosses etc.
Q. What is the total cost for erecting a headstone?
A. The charges are summarised as follows:
