Getting started 

You will be asked to enter the First name, Surname and date of death of the person who’s records you are looking for. If the record is found it will be displayed in summary form. You can then select the relevant record for releasing to your account in standard or extended form (depending if there are more burials within the same grave). You will be informed of the cost of releasing the selected record and you will be asked for you credit/debit card details through your shopping basket. Once the order is confirmed the record(s) can be viewed in your account. You can also register with the site and top up your credits by contacting genealogy@glasnevintrust.ie if you intend using the facility as a regular user. 

Q. How do I create a genealogy account?

A. To create an account, perform a search and purchase Search Credits

Q. What if I don't know the exact spelling of either First or Last name

Q. No results are returned when using an address line in the search criteria?

A. The rule is "only enter part of the address that you know if correct", leaving out any combinations of "street", "road" or "rd" abbreviations as you might do a search based on "Dorset Road", whereas this record might be "Dorset Street" in our database, so by doing a search based on word "Dorset" only, results will appear.

Q. Still no records?

A. Taking into account above Hint & Tips with still no results, extend the number of years before and after year as starting point within the Search Criteria

Q. I have purchased more than one record and after payment, I can only see last record?

A. The link after Credit Card Purchase will always show most recent search but to view details on other records purchased, you must SignIn (see also details above on using account) with credentials emailed to you and when you re-do search, you will be see a "View Purchased record" link in the Results Grid

Q. I have purchased and while printing the record, my printer crashed - can I review the record?

A. In order to re-view record you must SignIn (see also details above on using account) with credentials emailed to you and when you re-do search, you will be see a "View Purchased record" link in the Results Grid

Q. I have purchased an Extended Search, but there's no Book Extract image for one of the individuals in same grave?

A. In an Extended Search, you can choose to purchase the Book Extract image for at least one of the individuals in same grave and the 2 credits charge is irrespective of how many images are available, but that doesn't mean we have an image for each record in same grave. For more info on for which records we have images, please refer to section below. Should you wish to check whether we have a specific image available, we recommend you search for particular individual, then tick the "Standard" tickbox followed by "Show Image" if there and the Website will alert you whether we have image available or not for that particular entry.

Q. Sometimes I can’t see either the First or Last Name box in Search Section?

A. This can be resolved by forcing your Internet Explorer to always refresh the page by setting your Internet Explorer Browser History Settings to “Every Time I visit the Web Page”. For more information on this, please refer to second section in this download

Book Extract Image Availability

At moment only records that have been digitized and transcribed recently have an Online Book Extract available. As a general guideline, this would be for any of the records where date of death is prior 1919. 

Reporting Genealogy Transcription Errors
 
For Pre 1900, all records have been digitized over last six months. Having viewed some of the images, users will no doubt have realised the scale of work involved in digitising these Glasnevin Cemetery Registers. In some cases, difficult to read handwriting could cause transcription errors.
Should you come across such transcription errors, please do not hesitate to contact us using our Online Enquiry section, www.glasnevintrust.ie/customer_care with details on how record should be amended in your opinion. If you have any supporting documents, you can also send these to genealogy@glasnevintrust.ie. These amendments will be validated and processed to then update our records online accordingly, including records that have been added to genealogy accounts.
Please note that no refunds for Online records can be processed in the case of transcription errors. Once purchased, records can still be updated if appropriate as above’s outlined feedback process.
